TE REO ME ONA TIKANGA MĀORI
All students have lessons in Te Reo daily .
Our Rūmaki classes do 80-100% of their learning in Te Reo Maori. English Medium classes have te reo lessons integrated into their learning areas and remain an important part of the curriculum.
As a whole school we are moving towards bi-lingualism and many subjects taught have a cultural context linked to Haurakitanga.
We have one Kapa Haka Roopu–one senior and a school waiata Roopu.
Competitive Kapahaka is an extracurricular subject which students choose to join.
They must be committed to noho (weekend practices) and some outside school hours training. During Term 2 and 3 we ask parents and whanau to support the tutors during this busy time schedule, helping at the noho with kai preparation, costumes and supervision.
