At Paeroa Central School our values are woven within our school vision: Children gain a connection to their place and whakapapa through working together (Mana Tū) and building a sense of belonging (Mana Ūkaipō), to the Environment (Mana Whenua ), to the people (Mana Motuhake) and to the Community (Mana Tangatarua).

Our Mission Statement

 

Hauraki ki Uta Hauraki ki Tai Hauraki Kōwhao Rau 

This kōrero is representative to the kaupapa of our kura. It describes Pare Hauraki (the rohe) in which our school proudly stands - Hauraki to the land Hauraki to the sea Hauraki of many kinships

Together we learn.  Together we grow.

How we will achieve this vision, forms the body of our Marau ā-Kura: School Curriculum. The kōrero from our Marau ā-Kura was designed after consulting with the whānau, local hapu, iwi, staff and board members. 

 

Ngā Mātāpono Whānui - Our Guiding Principles 

 

Te Marautanga o Aotearoa: NZ Curriculum – We create successful dual medium pathways, implementing a school curriculum based on TMoA and NZC that is personalized to the needs and interests of our ākonga – Mana Tū Marau a-kura: Local Curriculum – We strengthen our ties to Haurakitanga through realizing our hitori (history), pūrakau (traditional stories), kawa (protocols), iwi, hapū, marae, me ngā tikanga (rules that are set) – Mana Whenua Te Hāpori: Community - We enhance and forge collaborative relationships with ākonga, whanau and hāpori to promote a strong sense of cultural identity – Mana Motuhake Te Ahurea: Culture – We ensure our school environment continues to be a safe place for all ākonga, providing local, te Ao Māori and te Ao Whānui learning experiences for all students and specifically students at risk - Mana Ūkaipo 

Our School will reflect the National Education Learning Priorities through our Guiding Principles.

  • NELP 1: Learners at the Centre Mana Whenua: Effective Action - All ākonga have a sense of belonging and connection to a place, and improved outcomes for Māori achieving educational success as Māori is realised
  • NELP 2: Barrier Free Access Mana Ūkaipō: Effective Accomplishments - Provide opportunities to promote belonging and connection to a place, valuing collaborative interactions and improved outcomes for all students
  • NELP 3: Quality Teaching and Leadership Mana Tū: Effective Thinking - To explore and improve efficacy, courage, humility, tenacity and resilience. Comprehensive student achievement information is used to inform inquiries of teaching practice, leadership pathways and effective learning programmes
  • NELP 4: Future of Learning and Work Mana Tangata rua + Mana Motuhake: Effective Relationships - The skills, knowledge and confidence to navigate success in two or more worlds, creating a positive Māori identity and a sense of embedded achievement
