Mana Potential

Te Ara Whakamana

In our classrooms, the Te Ara Whakamana programme begins with the telling of the creation story – beginning at Te Kore and moving to Ranginui and Papatuanuku. The Atua: Gods are introduced to describe duality we as students, kaiako and tangata may display in our lifetime.

Te Ara Whakamana is a mana enhancement programme which positively addresses:

  1. Cultural capability
  2. Local curriculum design
  3. Sensitive information to support learning.

Te Ara Whakamana: Mana Enhancement we believe fits within these 3 areas.

From this programme every student collaborates and designs with their teacher a mana circle in which they identify the duality of their own behaviours. Processes and plans are put in place by the student to address their cultural, emotional and social well-being needs.
